CAST PROFILES

Wayne Denton

Wayne Denton is a truly captivating performer who has gained many devoted followers along with various astounding achievements throughout his years as an entertainer.

Wayne began playing the guitar many years ago, being inspired by the singing and song writing talents of artistes like Don McLean and the late, great, John Denver.

In the early days of his still very active career, Wayne performed in clubs nationwide with just his guitar and enchanting voice to entertain his audiences. His dedication and love of performing led him to appear as a guest performer on a variety of TV shows for Yorkshire, Central and Granada Television.

In the late 80s, his career reached even greater heights when an appearance on the popular TV Talent Show 'NEW FACES' led to him winning a place in the grand finals!

Further to this accolade, Wayne toured the UK with many shows appearing with TV personalities 'Cannon and Ball', 'Jim Davidson' and the infamous 'Ken Dodd', to name but a few.

Wayne focused mainly on the cruise market appearing as the headline cabaret, establishing himself as a worldwide entertainer of exceptional quality.

As well as his solo act, Wayne has also appeared in and was also the joint inaugural producer of various production shows including the renowned 'Forever In Blue Jeans', 'Red Hot Country' (later known as 'Superstars of Country') and more recently the Rock-Pop Production Show 'Route 66'.

Throughout his impressive career Wayne has remained enthusiastic about his original inspirations with an enduring admiration for his idol, John Denver which led him to put together the show 'Country Roads: A Celebration of John Denver'. In this show, Wayne has the opportunity to perform the songs which he has long been passionate about and is proud that he can commemorate the person that has given him such great inspiration from the very beginning of his career.

'Country Roads…' has gained great success since it began to tour. With Wayne’s breathtaking vocals and sincere charisma it is easy to see why the show has gained fans throughout the UK as well as the support of the Friends of John Denver fan club. Wayne Denton is a highly accomplished artist in his own right with a passion for entertaining audiences. His effortless allure and mesmerizing vocal qualities have given him an astounding career to date and, it seems, will bring an even more promising future!

Phil Walker

Phil Walker began playing guitar at the age of six. Self taught, he began to copy the styles of his idols Albert Lee, Hank Marvin and Brian Setzer.

Turning professional as soon as he left school, Phil soon got a reputation as being one of the most versatile guitarists in the country, playing for the likes of 'Cliff Bennett and The Rebel Rousers', 'Sarah Jory', 'Circus of Horrors', 'Dr & The Medics' and many more.

Phil is renowned for his knowledge and truly outstanding musicianship in the industry. Throughout his professional career he has earned a wealth of experience in Stage Performance, Direction and Public Address (Sound Equipment) of which on a number of occasions has been appointed Musical Director and Sound Engineer of various successful touring theatre shows including 'Route 66', 'Marty Wilde', 'Rose Royce', 'The Drifters' and 'Country Roads: A Celebration of John Denver'.

To be going back to his routes playing in the style of his all time favourites Albert Lee and James Burton, 'Country Roads...' is an absolute pleasure for Phil! Enhancing the show with his array of talent, Phil also enjoys performing John Denver's beautiful and memorable songs by playing instruments such as Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin and adding percussion.

Phil has many achievements in the music industry, however his most loved art is always to play guitar. With his astonishing abundance of knowledge, feeling and finesse, Phil can produce a sound that will touch the soul. A talent you rarely find!

Ian Kimber

Ian began playing the piano at 5 years old, and at the age of 8 won a scholarship to Chethams School Of Music, where he spent 7 years learning his craft, before moving on to the Guildhall School Of Music & Drama.

He became a professional keyboard player at 23, playing for various function bands all over the country and on several cruise ships. He then joined the resident band at Holme Lacy House Hotel (Warners) where he was musical director for the next 10 years. For the last 6 years Ian has been 'freelance', enjoying the varied lifestyle of playing for various touring theatre shows, several tribute acts, duos, trios, as well as much solo work.

In his 20 years as a professional musician Ian has worked with the likes of Cannon & Ball, Little & Large, Ken Dodd, Frank Carson, Katrina (and the waves), Bobby Davro, Roy Walker, Owen Money and Max Boyce to name but a few.
